You heard right this post is about career essentials NOT about just essentials!

I’m sanjeev kumar a growth marketer with more than 5 years of experience. I have been working in startups since 2015.

What is career essentials?

Mandatory or required skills for any job that includes corporate and startups. These essentials skills are apart from your job profile or specialization Its help you to grow faster and even useful for the survival of your job.

Here is the list of essentials skills

  1. Communication
  2. Copywriting
  3. SQL
  4. Excel

Believe me, I’m telling you these all based on my personal experience NOT based on internet research. In my last 5 years career, I worked for 4 companies and everywhere these skills are required.

  1. Communication

Communication is the first skill required for any job. Communication I mean here English, If you are not good at English speaking or your native language is not English. Please work on that and improve as quickly as possible because without it very difficult to get a job or even survive in a job or business. This is really would be a blocker for your growth.

2. Copywriting

If you want to do a job or business doesn’t matter you have to communicate with people via Email and via Doc or PPT. While building strategies for your business or for other people you have to write a great narrative that everybody understands. Here you would pitch your ideas to your boss or senior people. This is also a blocker for you if you are not a great writer.

3. SQL

This is not mandatory but it helps to grow and create a great impression with your manager and colleague. Sometimes you need to analyze data to understand the business in a better way. If you want to analyze the data you have to make a request with the analytics team even for the basic requirement. If you know SQL you can write a query for yourself and reduce the dependency time on other folks.

4. Excel

Excel is mandatory for any type of job. Its help to create a performance tracker for yourself, for the team and for the company. Sometimes you need to analyze the data and then present it with your manager or team. This would be a blocker for anyone who wants to do a job, start a business on its own.

Conclusion:

  1. These skills(1–4) are mandatory apart from your specialization.
  2. Start working on that if you need any improvement.
  3. There are 100’s of online course available to improve these skills in free as well as paid.
  4. These skills are for freshers as well as for experienced people
